Solarglide supplies set of solar screens to Italian tanker

Changing temperatures around the globe make glare and heat a problem all year round for the crew working on the bridge. The benefits of having SG GLIDER solar screens installed not only benefits the crew, but they also put money back into the pocket of the ship owners and ship managers by allowing air conditioning to be turned down.

If you were to stand two newbuild vessels side by side in bright sunshine and humid temperatures (one fitted with SG GLIDER screens & the other without) – the vessel with solar screens in operation will be 10 - 15 degrees cooler inside. This reduction in heat benefits the crew my keeping them protected from the dangers of overheating, thus increasing productivity during daily operations. The reduction in glare helps to avoid collisions and vessel damage during times of prolonged and relentless solar glare conditions – which can be particularly dangerous during winter periods.
